With Minor League seasons done for 2013, which prospects are your targeting for next season? We saw elite talent come earlier and at a younger age than ever before this season. Two important considerations with this list; 1) Players listed were not called up in September 2) Players in very low minors or teenagers were left out for the most part. Follow these 20 players (ten pitchers and ten hitters) in the Fall League and Spring Training. Some will be in your draft/auciton in '14, others should be considered for your minor league draft.
With Alex Rios now a member of the Texas Rangers, the August "waiver trades" are underway. We have seen a large number of prospects called up this season, with many of them hitting the ground running. There are a number of major league caliber players awaiting the call in the minors, some rehabbing from injury, others simply working on their game. In the first of a two part series, we take a look at talent that may soon get a call to "The Show", with a look at hitting.
Another week without a "huge" prospect call up, but we did get some players that may contribute. On the pitching side, St.Louis brought up John Gast, the Yankees called on one time elite prospect Dellin Betances and Tampa bypassed (for now) a pair of stud starting pitching prospects for Alex Torres. As for hitting, Detroit is giving power hitting Avisail Garcia a look, while the Yankees tabbed David Adams as the Chris Nelson experiment was short lived. More quality help awaits on the farm and we continue to take a look at the possibilities both in the field and on the mound, across each division. We continue with a look at "Who's Next", with the American League's Central Division.
