Who is this Murphy and where can I find him? If you happen to meet up with him before I do, please punch him in the face for me. Then, when he’s down and writhing in agony, kick him a few times too. Preferably in the groin region. Fantasy football owners really took it on the chin from this guy as Murphy’s Law reared its ugly head on a few occasions this week. We as writers can sit here and prognosticate all we want about a number of things we expect to see each week, but sometimes the fantasy gods feel the need to keep us in check, tame our hubris, and show us who really is in charge here. And for that, you have our deepest sympathies. You are not alone in the crossfire though as we all have teams of our own. So when we say to start Player X because of his ridiculously tasty match-up this week, chances are, we’re starting him too. Here’s a few situations from Week 7 worth lamenting about…
As with any fantasy football season, the year is filled with a slew of players and hopeful waiver wire picks that tend to keep owners guessing. Maybe they had a strong debut but with a soft match-up. How are they going to fare against stiffer competition? Maybe they were already on someone’s roster but got dropped. Why should they be relevant now? Maybe they haven’t even stepped into the limelight yet and you want just how they’re expected to perform. Whatever the situation may be, you want to know if this dog will hunt. There are a variety of reasons as to why a particular player isn’t siting on someone’s roster right now, but to continue to ask why they’re available isn’t the right question. Who cares why they’re available? Maybe the league has short benches and the owner couldn’t stash them. Maybe no one heard of him. Maybe the owners in the league are a bunch of idiots. Again, who cares? The right question to ask is, “Why should I pick them up right now?”
We’re getting ready to start up Week 6 of the NFL which means the fantasy football season is about to hit its midway point in many leagues. That means wins are more crucial than ever. Falling below .500 at this point puts you strongly in danger of missing your playoffs and putting you on the path towards holiday depression. So let’s get this week started off on the right foot and take a closer look at tonight’s match-up between the Giants and the Bears. Let’s make sure we’ve got everyone active who needs to be active and those who shouldn’t be, back on the bench.
It's Week 6, and things are starting to crystallize in the world of fantasy football. Guys like Vick and Daniels can't stay healthy, what a shock. Guys like Brees and Romo continue to get it done, what a shock. Youngsters like Lacy and Cameron are establishing themselves as weekly starters. Which fellas on the gridiron have the best matchups for Week 6? So glad you asked as we've got a lot of information to share with you in your quest to emerge with the “W” in the sixth week of the NFL season.
