We have moved past the traditional July 31st trading deadline and now must focus on August "waiver" trades. As we see moves that appear likely, we will address players that may have advanced opportunity. We have bullpen changes in Seattle and Houston and Detroit may not be far behind. Of course this week's pending suspensions due to performance enhancing drugs will certainly impact not only the pennant races but fantasy races as well. While I hope nobody has been counting on a return of Alex Rodriguez, potential losses of players like Nelson Cruz and Jhonny Peralta will/would be huge.

Danny Farquhar Seattle RP- The Mariners bullpen is unsettled at the back end again and Farquhar may be as good a gamble as any toget saves as Tom Wihlemsen tries to work things out. Farquhar hasn't been scored upon in his last six outings, which includes a save on Saturday night against the Orioles.
Jose Cisnero Houston RP- Cisnero didn't get off to a good start on Friday night, not only was he called upon in a setup situation in the eighth inning, he couldn't deliver. Cisnero is 2-2 with an ERA of 3.59 and a 1.55 WHIP. Cisnero has 41 strikeouts in 42 innings of work, but his next save will be the first of his career.
Tyson Ross San Diego SP- Once a solid prospect with Oakland, Ross has moved down the coast and is emerging in the Padres rotation. In three starts (all at Petco Park), Ross is 2-1 with a hard luck loss on Saturday night. Over 20 innings, Ross has struck out 22 with an ERA of 1.35 and a sparkling 0.70 WHIP.
Samuel Deduno Minnesota SP- Deduno is 3-0 over his past four starts, but needs to work on his control with 16 walks over 27 innings. Deduno has allowed only five earned runs during his hot stretch and struck out 19. On the season, he is 7-4 with an ERA of 3.17 and a 1.29 WHIP.
Dan Haren Washington SP- After a horrific first half of the season, Haren has been getting done of late. Haren has been solid in four of his last five starts, with the only hiccup July 22nd against Pittsburgh. Haren has allowed only three earned runs over the other four starts, including seven shutout innings Saturday at Milwaukee.
Henderson Alvarez Miami SP- Alvarez made his season debut on the Fourth of July at Atlanta and has collectively, cobbled together half a dozen good outings. Alvarez is 2-1 with an ERA of 2.61 and a 1.18 WHIP. Over 38 innings of work, Alvarez has 17 strikeouts, while issuing ten walks... those numbers need improvement.
Juan Lagares NY Mets OF- The emergence of Lagares has been a bit of a surprise since he has been with the major league club since April. Lagares has done the majority of his damage over the past month, going 25-for-69 for a .362 average. Lagares has homered once, added a dozen RBI and three steals in that stretch.
Ryan Raburn Cleveland 2B- Time for the rush to pickup Raburn again. Earlier this season, he was a hot commodity when he went on a week long home run barrage. Well, it may be time to ride the streaky Raburn again. Over the past two weeks, Raburn is hitting .407 with three home runs and nine RBI.
Alex Avila Detroit C- Just when you thought it was time to give up on Alex Avila... it's not. An All-Star and Silver Slugger recipient as recently as 2011, the backstop is still just 26 years old and has been delivering over the past couple of weeks. Avila is hitting .344 with a pair of home runs and 11 RBI over the past 15 days.
Cody Ross Arizona OF- Motivated by a return to Boston, Ross has been raking for the Diamondbacks. Over the past two weeks, Ross is 15-for-39 (.385) with a pair of home runs, ten RBI and a couple of stolen bases. The Arizona outfield is very crowded, but Ross has the hot hand and is worth riding during his white hot stretch.
Miguel Tejada Kansas City INF- Sure he is 39 years old, but the former American League Most Valuable Player has been delivering at second base for the Royals. Tejada has three multi hit games in the past two weeks, hitting .368 in the process. Tejada has homered and driven home seven runs during that same period.
Cody Asche Philadelphia 3B- With Michael Young filling in for Ryan Howard at first base (and on the trade block) a spot has opened up for the Phillies prospect. The Phils claim they will move Asche around the infield to keep him in the every day lineup. Asche has started slowly going 1-for-17 with a single RBI.
